our of the bottom ten... for this week

back in mid-june i made the decision to race cyclocross this season. it's been since 2002 that i've suited up for a series of these races. not having any expectations going into the season, i was finished as a lapped rider back in the bottom 5... with some DNF's, but i don't really count them since they don't even end up on the results pages once posted. and, after some goofy scoring by the organizaion, i relagated myself from top 20 finishes to the bottom five (having been lapped at both venues). but, this past weekend at the boulder reservoir, things started to turn around for me. my form is slowly getting better, i could recover on certain section, felt light on my bike along the beach and the run section through the sand pit felt good. i pulled myself out of the bottom five to finish out of the bottom ten.

two USGP races are on the schedule for next week with early start times. hopefully i can build on my form and have slightly better results. and maybe, i'll be so bold as to line up closer to the front, rather than in the back row.

2USD muffins

i've been stopping by the coffee shop in quebec square lately to purchase what was once dubbed the 'bus station muffin'. dice got me on em... nothing like a saturated fat muffin before a ride after work, at least, that was when i was dispatching back at the old db job. back then, it was 1.50USD and now it's 2USD. i made an effort last week to make muffins, and after searching for a recipe, proceeded to do so; except they came out tasting aluminumie (too much baking soda?) and some hard as a rock. so this week, instead of muffins, i'm on pumpkin bread with chocolate chunks... for 2.16USD. i need to start baking at home for some morning treats.
