update on the house

so the house is just about done. p, a and i went by it just over a week ago... and the house is painted red. when we signed the purchase agreement, they told us the house was going to be a shade of green. now it's red... with the gabled section being salmon pink. yes, that's right. pink. we both stood there in awe of the fact that one, the house is red, and two, there's pink on our house. pink. after a couple of days of deliberation between the two of us, we called and made a stink about it. kb came back and gave us an option of painting the interior of the house a different color... ok, that makes no sense. we're complaining about the exterior, not the interior. once they decided to listen to what was being said, they said they could do nothing about the paint color. so we pressed a bit more and offered to get us a fridge instead... after another day of p and i talking about it, we relented and said, what do you got for a fridge... well, they proposed a whirlpool side by side in stainless, contoured. another day of deliberation and i felt that they should be giving us a choice in the matter, so again, kb comes back and says, 'tell us what you want and we'll see if we can get it.' so p spends a good number of hours looking at refridgerators, running around denver and providing serial numbers of makes and models of fridges that we'd like to have in the house. another day later, kb says, well... we can't get any of those, we only deal with kitchenaid and whirlpool (or ge, i forget); you're going to get the fridge we told you early in the week. damn. i can't believe it. how incredibly lame. this is our first house. the exterior paint color has changed, and now we have no choice on the fridge that you are bribing us with since the house isn't the color we expected.
on the bright side of things, this frees up a bit of dollars for a washer and dryer. but, bottom line, we're moving into a house painted (a shade of) pink, and a fridge (albiet very nice) that we had no options on.
