t-minus 5 days

so it's less than a week and p and i are homeowners. it's pretty exciting. very excited to get out of this loft action. but the location is quite nice... right downtown with about a 15 minute walk to were the action is... but we're really not into the action d/t. but it's nice to be so close to the city center. when we move, we'll only be 6 miles away, which is nothing. about a 15-20 minute bike ride. so ti'll be nice to tack that time onto my bike commute to work on thrusdays. i hope i have an extra day or so next quarter that i can ride. it's been a long time since i've been on my bike... and i'm patiently waiting the one year birthday of my son so i can take him out in the trailer.

we had our walk through a few days ago. took much longer than i had thought. i think we were there for about 2 hours. everything looks good. the kitchen windows are flat instead of block, and the master bath window is in place. there is just some tile work and painting to be done to finish it out. the builder happened by during our walk through and expressed his view that the lack of the window and screw up in the kitchen wasn't his fault. to be honest. we didn't care much who's fault it was, just that it be fixed. but he lamented and probably just wanted a pat on the back and a 'good job'. well... we'd have said it anyway, especially if it were done right the first time.

anyway. closing on the house on thrusday and then it's time to start moving. i decided this week to just take that thursday off from work so we could enjoy our new home. it'll be very exciting. so from thursday to sunday, i'll be moving smaller items to the house. fragile kitchen items, stero and computer stuff. and then sunday, i've enlisted the aid of a few friends to help with the big stuff. can't wait!

update when we are in the new home.

pic of the house

p, a and i went by the house yesterday. they took care of the 'glass blocks' and but in the flat standard window. made a bit of difference on the amt of light coming in. they touched up the paint and took care of the un-flush cabinets. they have yet to install the window in the master bath, though.. but i did see the window sitting in the closet downstairs. we hung out for about an hour just enjoying the fact that we are going to be homeowners in less than two weeks.

and, we took a picture:
