a day in the (eventual) sun

the morning after p and i went to the delivery room, our friend gretchen and i noticed a breakfast joint called hot cakes across the street that looked oh so tempting while p was on the epidural. of course, going there for breakfast was out of the question since we had no idea when p was going to give birth to our son aiden. since then, we've frequented this breakfast house three times; today under cloudy skies, it was with our friends jason and dawn, who are expecting their first child. it's quite exciting to talk to a couple expecting a child, especially after going through it. as for breakfast, each time we've gone, i've ordered the same thing- the sunrise meal, two eggs scrambled, hash browns, sausage links and pancakes.
after breakfast mid cap-hill, we took 17th streed west through downtown to the west side to visit the REI store. we're in the market for a baby jogger. i've thought about purchasing a burley, but after seeing a jogger made by chariot, we're leaning that direction. unfortunately, after walking the 2.5-3 miles down to REI, they didn't have any models on the floor... but we did get p a baselayer with a hood on clearance. on the way there, we stopped by the leasing office for new townhomes and lofts going up next to the new contemporary art museum at delgany and 15th st- could not believe the cost of these places- starting price was 700,000USD. holy smokes! damn there are some cats in this cow town with cash. the plus was that i got a couple pieces of herseys miniature candies while p and the gent working there spoke about the possibility of getting some client based experience to the art institute.
so after strolling through REI and giving aiden some nummies, we started our walk home, stopping off at the cheesecake factory for a salad. we were talking to j&d this morning and ceasar salad entered the conversation, so i had a bit of a craving for one with chicken. with the enormous portions that are served there, p and i shared a plate of salad and ate some of their yummy bread and topped ourselves off by sharing a slice of the godiva chocolate cheesecake. very tasty.
eight hours after leaving the house and with the sun leaning toward the west, we returned home at 6pm. a full day outside with the bean. he took it quite well. had a good time in his stroller. took a few naps during the day and enjoyed the experience of seeing something other than the walls and ceiling of our loft.
